Her Majesty, The Queen!

The majestic RMS Queen Mary 2 sailed into the world's greatest harbour at the crack of dawn to a royal welcome. Escorted to her berth (at the Navy Base just down the road - she's too big to fit under the harbour bridge or to dock at Circular Quay) by a flotilla of pleasure craft and a swarm of news choppers, she brought morning traffic to an awestruck standstill.

The latest visitor to our neighborhood weighs in at a colossal 148,528 gross tonnes (not including the no doubt rather weighty load of retirees, most of whom by the looks of it could have sailed on the v 1.0 model)

Sorry Russell - your Wolloomoolloo penthouse doesn't look quite so impressive when flanked by that floating palace. And I doubt chucking a phone is going to do much damage to the gleaming hull...

As the sun sets, she gears up for another trans-oceanic voyage to another of the world's great ports - the frenetic Hong Kong.

$80,000 buys you a 5 star cabin with infinite sea views, 15 restaurants to choose from, and 80 days to circumnavigate the world.

Rock has harnessed the power of his Mathematical Physics degree to compute that that's a one grand a day. Shiver me timbers! Rock has harnessed the power of his Finance degree to compute that this is about as close as he's gonna get to walking up that diamond encrusted gangplank...
